COACHES REPORTS 2011

1st Grade Report

Round 1 v Belswans

What a start to the season!

Round one sees the Stags face off against Belswans. Who would have thought that we would get a clean sweep! The last time was the 9th of May 2003!!!

First Grade saw a dominant performance with goals to Adam Humble (2), Karl Gavin, and Billy Lockley.

Brad Cooper scored for Belswans late but they were never in the game. Players player was Cam Donovan. Great start to the season boys!

 Round 2 v Hornets

We travelled to Turner Park to face Cessnock, who were still smarting from their shock loss to Singleton in round 1. This was always going to be a tough physical game, and the first half saw a torrid affair with glimpses of good football. Jamie Bartlett opened the account in the 19th second while Cessnock were still asleep. We pressed home the advantage with a goal to Karl Gavin to lead 2 nil at the break.

The second have saw an early goal via JB and another to Karl. We were up 4-0. Cessnock came back at us and clawed their way back to 4-3.

2 Clean sweeps in a row!

 23s Report

G'day Stags fans.

It gives me great satisfaction to be able to report that after two games all three grades are unbeaten. Congrats to all the boys on this fantastic start to the season. The reserve grade has shown some great potential disposing of Belmont/Swansea 8-0 in the season opener. Then backed up that good performance with a tough trip to Cessnock, winning 2-0. Our next opponents are going to be a tough test for us, with our boys going down to Adamstown in a trial earlier in season. The boys, im sure, are keen to turn this result around and I'm looking forward to an exciting tough game.

U18s Coach’s Report

Round 1

First week of the competition and we started with a win!   The boys seemed a little underdone but came through and can only get better. Fine displays from Luke Conners, Scott Gunning and Peter Brennan.

Round 2
Away at Cessnock and we have another win. Whilst we played well enough to win, we have to learn to take the chances when they come our way.

However the boys played well and hopefully will improve everyweek.
Whilst I don’t like to single out the same players I believe that our defence is strong and again gave a good display with Luke Conners, Scott Gunning and Peter Brennan.

However Scott Cawley gave a nice show as well as did all the other players involved.
Yours in sport, John (u/19s coach)
